We are pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Wearne and Freddy Flores as co – coaches along with the appointment of Chris Maurer as assistant coach to lead the charge back into Div 1 for the upcoming Summer season.
The coaches will be assisted by club stalwarts Rob Hogan, Myles Barnden, Michael Crooks, Lucas Price and Mick Wearne.
Scott has several years of Div 1 experience as well as stints at College, Pro Ball and several years with the national team and has coached the team the last 2 years with great success and looks forward once again to taking on some of the powerhouse of Victorian baseball.
Freddy Flores is no stranger to the BigCats after spending the 2013-14 season helping the team to DIv 2 runners up. Since his return to the USA Freddy spent 1 year with the Fargo Moorehead RedHawks of the American Association of Proffessional baseball as the pitching coach before returning this year to the Amarillo Thunderheads in the same league as the hitting coach where he has also spent most of the year on the active roster pitching in over 25 games.
Chris Maurer has had several years of Div 1 experience and spent last year as the head coach of the StKilda baseball club.
The Thirds after a successful runner up season will be led by Rowan Hall while after 2 consecutive grand final wins the Dave Stenhouse led boys will be moving up to our play as our Div1 Fourths. Graham Hough will once return to a coaching role to lead our clubs fifth grade team.
