As the 2025/26 summer season approaches, the club is set to launch into things with two Junior Come and Try days. With an eye on growing and strengthening our junior program and ensuring there are adequate pathways from juniors through to seniors (for boys and girls), the club has committed to investing both money and resources into the program more than ever before.

US native Cory Everett has signed on as our new Junior Program Head Coach. Cory brings a wealth of baseball knowledge and experience, and is currently playing baseball in Europe. He will head up junior training sessions, assist junior coaches, help at times with our women’s and men’s program trainings, and also play with our men’s program as our men’s import.

Along with the addition of Cory, we have a new Junior Coordinator this season with Sean Wang taking on the position. Sean has been involved for several years in our junior program, and more recently as a senior player in our men’s program. His understanding of junior baseball at various levels will provide a great link between our junior and senior programs, and Sean will help advise the committee across the course of the season to ensure the junior program is as well-supported as possible.

In line with a new Head Coach and Coordinator, the club is committed long-term to ensuring the sport is as affordable as possible. Our fees for the coming season will not change from 2024/25, with only a $50 club fee payable + the compulsory Baseball Victoria fee of between $80 and $150 pending age group). A sibling discount is also available. The club will also seek to support our junior players with some new equipment and access to more technology as part of training and game day.

Two pre-season Come and Try Days are scheduled for Sunday 31st August and Sunday 7th September. For each session we invite existing juniors and new players who are looking to have a go at baseball and consider joining for the summer season (begins early October).

A newly updated website including junior section will provide families and prospective players with information about the club and the program. Club President Jessica Adkins-Barber was excited when asked about the reinvigorated junior program set for the coming summer season.
”We have always done our best to provide great opportunities for our kids here at Springy, but we know that there is more to do, and a way to go to ensure the future longevity of the club,” said Jess. “We’re committed to ensuring our players get access to the best possible coaching, no matter their reason for playing.
Community baseball should focus on giving kids of all abilities a chance to participate and have fun, plus be a place the kids can go to belong and grow great social connections. But, we also want to make sure our players looking to develop to a higher level with representative aspirations are given a chance to develop and grow at the pace they need to become their best. We’ll continue focusing on how we can provide both, in a safe and supportive club environment.
And, most importantly, we want our kids to turn up here and really feel part of the Big Cats family. Bring on the season.”
