The Springvale Lions have finalised the Men’s Coaching Panel for the First Nine for the coming 2017/2018 Division Two season.
The club committee has ratified that Michael Wearne has been appointed to the role of Men’s Senior Coach, while Rob Hogan has been appointed Pitching Coach. A Club Life Member, who has previously won a two Club Champion awards, the appointment to the role of Men’s Senior Coach marks the beginning of Michael’s
second tenure in the role, and it is one he is looking forward to.
“The club possesses a list of players who are keen to be a part of the club and both Rob and I look forward to working with a young group of players which the club has worked with for several seasons, along with some core veteran players.”
“With a fine young import to join the group as well, we look forward to the challenges of the season ahead and look forward to establishing success throughout the club be it our mens, womens, masters or programs. Rob is another who needs no introduction to those at Springvale and his knowledge and zest for the job and for the club makes him the perfect addition as Pitching Coach to round off the Men’s Coaching Panel.
A seven-time Club Champion with the Big Cats and possessing experience at ABL level with the Waverley/Melbourne Reds, and representing both Victoria at Claxton Shield level and the national team in the Green and Gold, Rob Hogan is also a former coach of the club.
Most recently, Rob has spent time working with both senior and junior pitchers at the club, with several going on to experience time in the Victorian state set-up , and was also a part of the state coaching set-up at Under 18 level, serving as an Assistant Coach on the 2016 Victorian Under 18 White team. Rob possesses over twenty years of experience in junior coaching at the Springvale Baseball Club, and is the perfect choice to guide the clubs pitching staff through the 2017-18 season.
