Big Cats Welcome New Pitchers for 15/16 Season

As the Springvale Lions look forward to a long awaited return to Division One, the club is proud to announce the signing of two international players for the upcoming 2015/16 Summer League season. Canadian born, 27 year old Michael McGillivray, formerly of Mulgrave Baseball Club and currently playing with Dandenong in the DBA winter league, is a tall right-handed pitcher who has the ability to dominate games.  After finishing his College career in 2011, Mike has played in the United States, Canada and Australia, following his dream of playing baseball all over the world. Mike arrives at Springvale with the ability to throw a variety of pitches, and add depth to the current list. Springvale is happy to have Mike on board, not only as a valuable addition to our pitching rotation, but also to add further support to our up and coming junior players.

Also landing at the club this summer is 22 year old Wisconsin native, Austin Massey. Austin has just completed his University studies and has taken a year off to travel Australia and play baseball along the way. A keen and talented right-hander, Austin is looking forward to enjoying the game and experiencing the Australian way of life this summer.

He possesses a variety of pitches designed to keep hitters off balance and has had some excellent coaching throughout his short career. We look forward to seeing Austin out on the field in a Big Cats uniform – and also enjoying the social side of the game with him off the field.

The club welcomes both players to KH WEARNE Field and is looking forward to seeing them both on the hill this summer.
