Former Big Cat Dom Ramos is enjoying one of his most successful seasons in his professional career playing with the Sugarland Skeeters of the Atlantic League. The Skeeters managed by former big leaguer and 4 time Gold Glove winner Gary Gaetti currently have the best record in professional baseball boasting a 93 – 41 record with just 6 games to go to complete the regular season.
After already securing top seed in the playoffs by winning the first half they have continued on their winning way surpassing the old Atlantic League record of 88 wins for the regular season. Dom has not surprisingly become a fan favourite at Constellation field where he plays alongside as many as 14 ex major leaguers, his amazing defence continues to dazzle regular capacity crowds of around 7000 and although he is the starting shortstop he has seen game time at both 2nd and 3rd base as well as some time in the outfield but throughout his 123 games has committed just 8 errors.
Although maintaining a modest 220 batting avg Dom has been great in the clutch so far, reaching a career high 55 RBI and also finding a little extra power with nine home runs on the season and his 15 stolen bases is good for 3rd on the team.
As an added bonus Dom has been able to enjoy great support from his family and friends as Sugarland around 20 mins from Houston are only a couple of hours from his home town just out of Austin Texas.
The Big Cats would like to wish Dom all the best for the remainder of the season and the playoffs and hope that one day he may get the chance to return and renew old acquaintances at Springvale.
