Lions Announce Life Member Hogan as Club Pitching Coach

HogesThe club is excited to announce Life Member and Big Cats Legend Robert Hogan will be the 2016/17 Club Pitching Coach.  A former Australian representative and long time player in the Australian Baseball League with the Waverley Reds, ‘Hoges’ will work with pitchers from all teams (junior and senior) in a bid to assist them as they develop over the season.

“It is always great to see young pitchers coming through the ranks”, said Hogan when asked what he enjoys about working with the junior players.  “Springy is a great place to play ball, and we have a lot of talented pitchers throughout the club who are going to be doing a lot of work throughout Division One in our men’s and women’s program.  It’s an exciting time, and i’m keen to do what I can to help players reach their potential”.

Hoges will be available regularly on a Thursday night at senior and junior trainings, and will also be able to assist with extra bullpen sessions when required.  In addition to this role, Hoges will be Assisting Ben Rosewall in a coaching position with the Under 18’s.

It is sometimes hard to find long standing, experienced pitchers who are willing to give up their time to pass on their knowledge and ideas.  We are very happy that one of our long term players with so much to give is prepared to continue giving back to the club.  We wish Hoges all the best for a successful season in both of his roles.
